Swim to Survive

The Lifesaving Society’s Swim to Survive program is designed to teach Grade 3 children the basic skills and knowledge necessary to avoid drowning and other water-related accidents. The students learn to make safe choices in any aquatic environment. This is accomplished by focusing on basic skills required to survive an unexpected fall into deep water. The program consists of three in-water lessons (each 1 hour) focusing on a sequence of three skills (roll entry, treading water for 1 minute, and swimming 50 metres), as well as three in-classroom water safety lessons presented in an active and engaging manner.
