September 19, 2025

It was another busy week at LePhare!  Every day students are becoming more comfortable with routines and expectations and are arriving at school ready to learn!

Soccer tryouts took place this week for students in Grade 4 and 5.  Thank you to Mlle. Smith and Mme. Woods-Pichette for their work in getting these athletes ready!  Ms. Todd and Mme Hayter welcomed an enthusiastic group of students from grade 3, 4 and 5 who are interested in participating in Cross Country.  Practices will begin next week.

Terry Fox Run

The students at Le Phare ES will be participating in the Annual Terry Fox Run/Walk, in order to raise funds for cancer research and in honor of and in memory of family, friends and past Le Phare staff members. We are proud to continue the legacy of one of our country’s greatest heroes.

As a way of showing our support for everyone who has been touched by cancer, our goal is to collectively raise $1500. If you are interested in supporting this cause, you may send in a cheque made out to The Terry Fox Foundation or complete your donation online at: https://schools.terryfox.ca/76547

Deadline: If you are interested in fundraising for this wonderful cause please do so until October 3, 2024.

****guardians are welcome to come run/walk with us!  We will have sign in sheets and visitor stickers available at stations outside for parents who participate.

Voluntary Student Fees, School Fees and Donations

For the 2025-2026 school year there will be a voluntary student fee of $20 per student with a family maximum of $50.

Voluntary Student fees are used:

  • To enhance classroom resources

  • To enhance the Physical Education, Heath and Daily Physical Activity programs

  • To support the use of Technology in the classroom.

**you will receive a separate email from School Cash Online to complete this payment.

What other School Fees might be requested throughout the year?

Over the course of the year you can expect requests for money for other reasons:

  • Field trips to enhance the curriculum. The fees requested are to pay for transportation and admission. Some field trips may be subsidized by the school and/or school council to keep costs down.

  • Competitive school sports teams: If your child makes a school team a small fee may be requested to cover costs associated with attending sports competitions, including transportation in some cases.

  • Fundraising activities – throughout the school year there are various fundraising activities for good causes – this is always optional.

  • School Council Fundraising – to raise money the school council organizes various fundraising activities, including hot lunch programs. The money raised helps support school programs

Many families choose to make donations to the school. Donations can be made on the school website.  You will have an opportunity to select where you would like your donation to go.  I.e Breakfast club, sewing club, etc.

  • Donations over $25 will be issued a tax receipt.
